The K3V140 pilot pump is an auxiliary pump matched to the K3V series variable displacement axial piston main pump. It is an external gear pump with fixed displacement, mounted at the rear end of the main pump and directly driven by the engine via a through-drive spline shaft.Its operating principle is based on the positive displacement pump characteristic: a pair of involute spur gears, during external meshing, creates an increasing sealed volume on the disengaging side to generate vacuum for oil suction, while the decreasing volume on the engaging side pressurizes and discharges oil. The meshing line isolates the suction and discharge cavities, thereby achieving continuous and stable low-pressure oil flow output.In hydraulic excavator systems, the pilot oil supplied by this pump serves as the control signal source, used to actuate the joystick pilot valves, multi-way valve pilot control, as well as the negative flow control and power compensation piston of the main pump regulator.

The K3V140 series pilot pump is primarily suitable for medium to large-sized hydraulic excavators around 30 tons. It is used in conjunction with the Kawasaki K3V140 main pump to provide pilot control hydraulic pressure and is suitable for negative flow control systems.
The following are commonly compatible models:
1. Regular Inspection: Every 2000 hours, disassemble and inspect the gear end face clearance, tooth flank clearance, and internal leakage. Replace any gears with excessive wear immediately.
2. Troubleshooting: If sluggish operation, abnormal noise, or insufficient pressure occurs, immediately stop the machine and inspect it. Common causes include increased internal leakage, air intake, or filter blockage.
3. Replacement of Accessories: When replacing the pilot pump, it is recommended to simultaneously check/replace the pilot oil circuit filter and hydraulic oil to prevent old impurities from damaging the new pump.
4. Storage Precautions: When storing spare pumps, seal the oil port to prevent dust, and store in a dry environment to avoid rust.
